Victor

The younger brother of Adolphe, Victor is the awkward one of the boys. He is more quiet and intellectual than the other men and not at all interested in romance which is rather unfathomable to him. He’s hard working like his brother but more likely to raise an eyebrow, especially at the girls who follow him around. The peasant men’s clothes are meant to reference actual German clothes like lederhosen which is most evident in Victor his pants are shorter than the other men’s because the signify age, similar to the aprons for the women. The butterfly motif in the men’s clothing is partially literal but much more about the idea of butterfly’s shapes and rhythms of veins and is maybe the most abstract in Victor’s costume. He is named for Victor Hugo, the author of the source material for Act Two.
